ENT SPECIALIST & AUDIOLOGIST

Otorhinolaryngologist

Otorhinolaryngologists, or familiarly known as ENT (ear-nose-throat) specialists are physicians who have advanced training in disorders of the ear, nose and throat. An otorhinolaryngologist determines the nature and extent of an ear, nose or throat disorder, and prescribes and administers medications, or performs surgeries when needed.

Audiologists

Audiologists are non-medical professionals who have at least a Bachelor of Audiology degree and specialise in the identification, testing, habilitation and rehabilitation of hearing loss. They work alongside with ENT specialists to treat and manage hearing disorders.

Audiologists test the hearing of infants, children, adults and the geriatric population. These professionals are often called upon to test the "difficult to test" population as well as other challenging cases. They are extensively trained in anatomy and physiology of the auditory mechanism, counseling, rehabilitation of hearing, aural rehabilitation, diagnostic testing and fitting of hearing aids, as well as assistive listening devices.
